When Jory and I connected after the long weekend, we discovered that we each had some interesting input that made us consider gender and Optionality. I had a lengthy conversation about burnout and work-life balance with a male colleague I met at a conference last weekend, and she had read some research data about CEOs and imposter syndrome.
The shared conclusion we were reminded of? That some experiences are universal human experiences. And perhaps we are seeing a shift in the conversation that allows more people to admit that out loud.
Of course, it’s more nuanced than a simple 🎶 Everybody Hurts… 🎶 singalong, but we agreed that the appeal of an optionality-driven life is for everyone! (Of course we did.)
Check out this tight 23-minute conversation and let us know if you agree there may be some cultural shifts that allow more people to join the conversation about burnout, work-life balance, and imposter syndrome.
Mentioned in the episode:
Press release about Korn Ferry imposter syndrome research
