and I wanted to introduce May’s theme here at Optionality by talking about our personal experiences identifying our purpose and passions…and balancing that with pressures and profit.

Here are some of the things we discussed:

1:35: Jory talks about trying to balance all of the above, and struggling with all or nothing thinking about it.

3:30: I throwback to our very first podcast episode with Optionality advisor Christina Wallace whose “Portfolio Life” concept was an early inspiration for Optionality:

4:45: Are full-time jobs even the most stable de-risked choice anymore?

6:51: Assessing where you are on a scale when it come to passion, purpose, and profit

7:30: What is the difference between purpose and passion?

9:00: Elisa’s purpose vs. passion

My purpose is what I’m here to do.

My passion is reflected in who or what I’m here to do it \for

10:45: Jory’s purpose vs. passion

13:00: Does your passion have to be monetizeable?

14:30: Does everything have to be purposeful? Incrementally achieving purpose or pursuing passion

19:09: Do you have to earn the right to pursue purpose?

22:00 Obligatory The Pitt side-discussion

24:00: What id you don’t know your purpose?

26:50: Obligatory rant about Facebook side-discussion

29:00: Shout out to Jory’s Deep Dive with

earlier this week about :

29:30: Should out to one of our earlier podcasts with

, and the value in listening to your body:

30:00: Shout out to

and her great exercises to help you find common themes and thread.

30:30: The below distillation:

What is your purpose = What are you here to do?

Knowing what you're passionate about = Where are you here to do it? What are some good places to target?

Listening to your body and listening to the threads of what you like and don’t like = How do you make sure you're in the right format of applying those things?

If you can connect these threads, it's like that line from Jerry Maguire, “help me help you.” Help people see exactly how bringing you in with all your passion, when it’s acting on your purpose, to work on their problem…why would they settle for anything less from someone else?

How do you define and/or distinguish between your passion and your purpose…and do you feel you’ve got the balance right?
