[OPEN TO ALL] A Conversationality with Cathy Brooks

What if YATA??? (Reddit-speak for "you are the asshole.")

Welcome to Conversationality

Every other week, Optionality’s co-founders Elisa Camahort Page and Jory Des Jardins (and occasional guests) will share a quick, topical, and timely audio conversation relevant to Optionality and the people who pursue it. Usually for Premium members only. This Conversationality is open to all!

What is this week’s conversation?

The jumping off point for this week’s conversation was inspired by

seeing our longtime friend and colleague Cathy Brooks confess to having been the asshole at work…having been fired for it. And having reformed. We both were, first, surprised, because Cathy had never struck either one of us as as being an asshole. Second, we were impressed that Cathy would share this story, the highs and lows, so openly and vulnerably. She is not concerned with making herself look good; she is concerned with helping people fix their broken communications, and her story is instructive about how communications can so easily break down.

Cathy is the first guest to join us on Conversationality (but not the last) and in honor of that we’re making this premium content available to all.

Mentioned in the episode:

  1. Cathy Brooks Unleashed Leadership LLC

  2. Kim Scott, Candor, Inc.

  3. The Reddit AITA forum

So, have you had times when you’ve wondered AITA? Or when you’ve absolutely known you were? how’d it go for you then, and how do you feel about it now?
